Those holding foreign nursing licenses must still pass Taiwan's national nursing examination and obtain a nursing certificate before they can practice in Taiwan.
The qualifications for taking the examination for the Senior Professional and Technical Examinations Regulations for Nurses are as follows:
1. Graduated from a public or registered private college or above, or a foreign college or above that meets the requirements of the Ministry of Education for the nursing, nursing midwifery, or midwifery department or department, and completed the internship period with a passing grade and obtained a graduation certificate.
2. Those who have passed the general nursing or midwifery examination and have worked in relevant positions for four years with documentary proof. (Effective until January 25, 2019, no longer applicable)
3. Those who have passed the Senior Education Examination in Nursing or Midwifery.
Therefore, if you have graduated from a nursing, nursing midwifery, or midwifery department or major from a foreign institution recognized by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan, you can apply for the nursing license examination in Taiwan.
Documents to be submitted by applicants with foreign academic qualifications
1. Applicants applying for the examination for the first time with foreign academic qualifications:
(1) Graduation certificate, all academic transcripts and internship certificate
- Original copies of graduation certificates, academic transcripts, internship certificates and other relevant supporting documents should be authenticated by the Chinese embassies, consulates, representative offices, offices and other authorized agencies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- The Chinese translation should be verified by our embassies, consulates, representative offices, offices, and other institutions authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (hereinafter referred to as overseas missions), or authenticated by a domestic notary public.
- The original documents held by foreigners, such as graduation certificates, academic transcripts, and internship certificates, if not in Chinese or English, should be translated into Chinese or English. The translation should be verified or authenticated by the overseas mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China or the diplomatic and consular authorities of the country to which the original document was issued.
(2) A copy of the passport showing the applicant’s name in Chinese and English, date of birth, and entry and exit stamps during the period of study abroad with a photo attached is required.
(3) A copy of the certificate of entry and exit during the study period issued by the Immigration Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior. Overseas Chinese or foreigners are not required to attach.
2. Those who have passed the examination qualification review
If the candidate's foreign academic qualifications have been reviewed by the Examination Yuan and he/she holds a "Notification of Examination Qualification", when applying for the same subject again, he/she only needs to provide a copy of the notification within the validity period of the notification or before the qualification is changed.
The examination is conducted in Chinese.
